Gregory Steven Hearne Obituary
HENDERSONVILLE-- Gregory Steven Hearne, 55, died on Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Memorial Mission Hospital in Asheville surrounded by his loved ones. He was preceded in death by his father, Otis Wade Hearne of Albemarle.
Greg was born in Albemarle, graduating from Albemarle Senior High School in 1978. He then continued his education at the University Of North Carolina Of Charlotte obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in Geology in 1983. While residing in Charlotte he met the love of his life Alicia Whiteside, marrying her on September 15, 1984 in Hendersonville. He worked for Loctite Corporation in Charlotte for approximately 10 years until they relocated to Hendersonville in 1992. Greg also worked for Shell Chemical in their sales division until he made a career change to real estate. He became a proud member of the Beverly- Hanks & Associates Real Estate Agency in Hendersonville in August 2013 specializing in commercial property.
He was a wonderful gardener and created very artistic sculptures that embraced his numerous flower beds of perennials. He loved to design and create original necklaces that he made for his wife Alicia, and special friends. He was an accomplished chef, entertaining friends was a celebration of wonderful food and friendship. He enjoyed hiking, fly fishing and yoga. If Greg wasn't on the golf course, he cherished being at home with Alicia creating memories.
He was a member of the Hendersonville Board of Realtors, Downtown Hendersonville Business Advisors Council, The Cotillion Club of Hendersonville, Hendersonville Country Club and St. John's in the Wilderness Episcopal Church.
In addition to his wife, Alicia of over 31 years, Greg is survived by his mother, Rinda Carol Lowder of Albemarle, his three feline children; "Nugget"," Rocket", and" Speck", several aunts and uncles, as well as very special friends: Maria and Martin Johnson and their son, William Martin Means Johnson Jr., and their daughter, Sarah Katherine Blount Johnson all of Flat Rock, Susan Portman of Hendersonville and Susan Stokes Kain of Hendersonville.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday December 1, 2015 at St. John's in the Wilderness Church in Flat Rock with Father John Morton officiating. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Blue Ridge Humane Society at 1214 Greenville Highway, Hendersonville, NC, 28792.
