Helen Marie (Bomar) Redden Obituary
Hendersonville-- Helen Marie Bomar Redden, 86, passed away peacefully on Wed., Nov. 4th, 2015. Helen was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, and was the only daughter of Tom and Helen Bomar. Her parents moved to Miami, Florida when Helen was young. She grew up in Miami and graduated from Miami High School. She attended Belmont College for two years before transferring to UNC-Chapel Hill where she graduated with a BA in Sociology. She met and married Monroe M. Redden, Jr. while both were attending UNC-CH. Together they raised three sons. Her eldest son, Tim, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons John Jefferson Redden and his wife Deidre and Gregory Bomar Redden. Helen has 4 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Helen was an Elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church and a volunteer for NC Head Start program. She was also an avid traveler, reader, and gardener. Being a life long learner, she took numerous postgraduate courses in her interests such as art history. Helen will be missed not only by her human family, but by her four-legged family as well… Sasha, her beloved dog and Zsa Zsa, her frisky feline.
The Redden family would like to thank Helen's close friend, Mary Helen Hyder, for her friendship, great cooking, and care for Helen.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to your local animal shelter.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Deerfields Retreat in Mills River on Sunday, November 8th, 2015 from 1:00 to 4:00 PM. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 9, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Thos. Shepherd Church Street Chapel in Hendersonville followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery.
