Obituary Condolences

TRYON-James B. "Jim" Newbold, 69, of Hendersonville, died Wednesday, December 25, at his home. A native of Sebring, FL he had lived in Tampa, FL prior to moving to Hendersonville in 1984. He was the son of the late Basil James and Rose Soltis Newbold. He was also preceded in death by his longtime companion, Sherry Heaton, who died in 2008. He had served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam and had worked for Sealdsweet Agricultural Distributors in Tampa. He also worked for Lutheridge from 1991 until 2009 and had been a volunteer at Pardee Hospital. He was a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner, having joined the Masonic order in 1952. Mr. Newbold is survived by his two children, Geoffrey Heaton and his fiance Beth of Hendersonville and Stephanie King and her husband Travis of Newport News, VA and by his brother in-law, Charles Heaton, Jr. of Newport News, VA. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 3, in the chapel of Shuler Funeral Home. Masonic rites will be conducted by Kedron Lodge # 387, AF&AM and military honors will be rendered by Hubert M. Smith American Legion Post 77, Hedrick-Rhodes Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5206, and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 14.
