James Robert "Jim" Joiner Obituary
James "Jim" Robert Joiner, age 83 of Mills River died Friday, April 22nd, 2016 at Pardee Memorial Hospital. He was born in Arp, Texas; a son of the late Carl and Glenda Joiner.
Jim grew up in Findlay, Ohio and transferred with work to Texas, Michigan and back to Ohio prior to moving to Mills River in 1989. He served as Senior Class President of Findlay High School in 1951 and received his Bachelor's Degree from Miami University of Ohio. Jim served as the Domestic and International Coordinator of Refining and Marketing Functions for Marathon Oil Company for 30 years. He was of the Episcopal Faith.
Jim served in the United States Air Force, Strategic Air Command and spent 60 years as a Master Mason, Scottish Rite, The Shrine, Royal Order Jesters and a former member of York Rite. He served as president of the Hendersonville Shrine Club in 1993, and Master of Horse Creek Masonic Lodge #719. He was a member of Polk Unity Lodge #482 and Findlay Lodge #227. He received the 33º Inspectors General Honorary in 2009.
Jim is survived by his wife of twelve years, Judy Middleton Joiner; step-children, David Freeman and wife, Jessica of Hendersonville, DeLynn Fuller and husband, Rick of Huntersville, and Carl Freeman and wife, Leslie of Hendersonville; grandchildren, Paul Freeman and Haley, Billy Freeman, Katelyn Fuller, Richard Fuller, and Colton Freeman; and one great-grandson, Logan Freeman.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28th, 2016 in Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel conducted by Ill. John M. Burchfield, 33º.
The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Jim's memory be directed to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or to any Masonic Charity of the donor's choice.
