JoAnne Way Obituary


AUGUSTA, GA. - JoAnne Way, 84, died in her sleep on Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, in Augusta, Ga.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Joseph Donald Way, and was the child of the late Jack A. Thompson and Doris Rich.
A native of West Palm Beach, Fla., she spent most of her life in Georgia and Western North Carolina. She was a elementary school teacher for over 30 years in Savannah, Ga., and Augusta, Ga.
In retirement, she was a very active member of the community in Saluda, serving on local boards and organizing community events.
She is survived by her three children; G. Arnold Medlock, of Columbia, S.C., Peter Joseph Way, of Augusta, Ga., and Justine Victoria Way, of Seattle, Wash., and six grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank Elmcroft of Martinez, Ga., and Golden Living Center-Windermere, Augusta, Ga., for the compassion and excellent care they provided to her over the last few years.
A memorial service will take place at a later date in Saluda, N.C.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Saluda Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 241, Saluda, N.C. 28773 or to your local Humane Society.

I remember Joanne's kindness to me as I came to work at Church of the Transfiguration ten years ago. She is at peace now.

Arnie, Peter and Jutine,

Please accept our sincere condolences in the loss of JoAnne. We have missed her since she moved from Saluda, and have always held fond memories of her close to us, now and forever more. She was a great lady and a wonderful, giving friend. We take great solace in knowing that she is with her beloved Joe again.

Peter, Justine and Arnie, our sincerest condolences to you and your families. JoAnne was a real gem of a person. I hope you will find comfort in knowing she led such a long and accomplished life.
