FLAT ROCK-John Moore Hadley, 87, of Flat Rock, NC passed away peacefully on December 16, 2013 at Elizabeth House. John was born in Stoneham, MA, May 18, 1926. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He leaves his devoted wife of 21 years, Constance (Fagnant) Hadley of The Orchards of Flat Rock. John is a member of Etowah United Methodist Church. He retired from Cole Hersee Co. of S. Boston where he was a professional industrial engineer. He loved to golf and refinish furniture, and enjoyed travel. He was known to all as a kind and gentle soul. He is survived by son David of Anchorage and daughter Carolyn Zimmerman of Granby, MA; grandchildren Lisa Amy Tavernier of Chicopee, MA and Andrew Zimmerman of Nashua, NH; 2 great-grandchildren; stepdaughter Lisa Lariviere and husband Samuel of Oak Ridge, TN; stepson Stephen Grochmal and wife Carol of Harrisburg, NC; 5 step-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by first wife, Martha Sumner Hadley, sister Jeanette Hadley Conant and husband Frank.
