Obituary Condolences

MILLS RIVER-Lacy Elvida Rose Simmons Dylewski, age 50, of Mills River died peacefully at her home on Monday, September 15, 2014.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Phillip Franklin Simmons, and her stepmother, Paula Simmons.
Lacy was born on February 24, 1964 in New Bedford, MA, to Alvin Simmons and Joan Brindel Simmons Rose. She attended schools in New Bedford, graduating from Dartmouth High School in 1982. She then attended Simmons College in Boston and earned a B.S. in Physical Therapy. After finishing college, she moved to Florida, where she met Mike Dylewski; the couple was married on August 24, 1992 in Stuart, Florida. They moved to Mills River, North Carolina in 1995, where Lacy owned and operated Mills River Physical Therapy for 19 years.
She is survived by her parents, Al and Joan; husband Mike of Mills River; three sons Brandon – a sophomore at Appalachian State University – Nikolas, and Matthew of Mills River; brothers Chris Simmons of Washington, DC, Mike Simmons of Tampa, FL, and John Simmons of Chicago, IL.; sister Polly Forster of Monroe, GA; step-mother Lynda Simmons; and stepbrothers Damon Frazee of St. Augustine, FL, and Drew Frazee of Freetown, MA. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved her deeply.
Lacy had an infectious laugh, a healing touch, and could light up a room with her endless energy. She cared for thousands of patients in her career as a physical therapist, pouring into the lives of others even as she carried her own cross. Lacy's family and friends will always remember her fighting spirit and "can-do" attitude – a legacy which extends far beyond the walls of her physical therapy clinic and home.
A Memorial Service will be held 10:00 AM Friday September 19th, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. A reception will follow the memorial service at the church in St. Francis Hall.
