Lail Carroll Garren

Obituary Condolences

McLEANSVILLE-Lail Carroll Garren, of McLeansville N.C., passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 27, 2013.
Lail was a Hendersonville native and was born September 3, 1949 to parents Eli and Christine Guffey Garren. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Kristen and his cousin Steve Guffey. After finishing at Edneyville High School, where he was MVP of his football team in 1968, he was drafted into the US Army and later served in Vietnam. Honorably finishing his military duties, Lail enrolled at Durham Technical College and 2 years later, received a degree in Dental Technology. He later started Garren Dental Lab which was still in operation at the time of his death.
Lail loved old cars, his Harley Davidson, classic rock and roll, the American flag and eagles, blue jeans, tee shirts, animals, and in particular his rescue cat Misty. He would not throw anything away because he could fix anything that was broken. He played the guitar, the banjo and the mandolin. He had a sense of humor and believed in having a good time.
Lail is survived by his cousins Nowell Guffey of Tryon and Lisa Guffey Waggoner of Hendersonville.
A private service will be held at Fruitland Cemetery where Lail will rest beside his family members.
Mildred Christine Haynes, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, went to be with Jesus at the age of 81 on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Life Care Center. Her spirit left us to rejoice in the Lord, but there are many treasured memories and the peace of Jesus to comfort those of us she left behind. Her joyous hobbies included singing in the choir, taking and collecting photos, and gardening in her roses and tulips. She loved her family and her many years of having everyone over for good food and late night Rock games. They will be sorely missed as well as the delicious and beautifully decorated cakes she baked for friends and family.
She was the daughter of the late Ralph J. and Nannie Sue Robertson. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Adger G. Haynes and a sister Katherine Robertson.
She is survived by her sister, Pantha Jean Robertson of Lake Lure; one son Randall G. Haynes; two daughters Penny Haynes Fore and Jennifer Haynes; two grandchildren Brandi McWhorter Sanders and husband Jamie and Lindsey Fore; and two great-grandchildren Elijah Sanders and Ayla Sanders all of Henderson County; her best friend, Leona Wilson of Lake Lure; as well as a host of very special nieces and nephews across the world.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at French Broad Baptist Church, 182 Grandview Lane, Hendersonville. Reverend Kemuel Pruitt and Pastor Todd Eaton will officiate. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at Bill's Creek Cemetery at 1475 Bill's Creek Road, Lake Lure, NC with Reverend Terrell Dillingham.
