Leland "Ralph" Morgan Jr. Obituary
Leland "Ralph" Morgan, Jr. passed away peacefully Monday September 3, 2018 at the Elizabeth House surrounded by loving family and friends. Ralph, courageously and without complaint, battled Brain Cancer for the past 2 years. He was preceded in death by his parents Leland Ralph Morgan, Sr and Lucy Russell Morgan and a sister Barbara Bernice Morgan all of Saluda, NC.
Ralph was born August 22, 1949 in Saluda, NC and was proud to live and work in the town he was born and raised in. He was a graduate of Saluda High School and went on to become a much revered Craftsman in his trade of Carpentry. He loved his work and continued to do so as long as he was able. He was proud of the fact that many of his work acquaintances became beloved friends and repeat patrons over the years. He enjoyed working with his hands, old cars including his 1964 Chevelle, the outdoors, collecting and listening to records, and sharing a bonfire with friends and family. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Mountain Page Baptist Church in Saluda NC.
Ralph is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years Carolyn Huggins Morgan of Saluda, NC and his loving daughter Jessica C. Morgan and her fiancé, Nathan Fugate, who admired her Daddy for teaching her more in life than any book or school could ever do. He is also survived by his two brothers Richard Leon Morgan and his wife, Judy and Larry Ronald Morgan both of Saluda, NC, several nieces and a nephew, great nieces and nephews, as well as a step granddaughter and her family.
The family would like to thank the staff of Mission Cancer Center for the excellent care he received throughout his journey.
His memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018 in Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel officiated by the Reverend Eddie Capps. Burial will be private.
His family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
