HENDERSONVILLE-Leo Henry Czajkowski, 80, of Hendersonville, NC died Tuesday December 17, 2013 at Mission Hospital. Leo was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to all. He was known for his kind heart, generous spirit and love of travel, reading, music and family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Leo was born August 2, 1933 in Hudson, NY to the late Edward Joseph Czajkowski and Mary Kruzel Czajkowski. He graduated from St. Joseph's Academy of Albany, NY, in 1951 and served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He graduated from the College of St. Rose in 1963 and received his Master's Degree from Union College in 1968.
A long-time employee of General Electric of Schenectady, NY, he worked as an Information Systems Manager. He moved to Rochester, NY in 1972 and was employed by Griffin Computer Services and Computer Task Force in Information Services before retiring from General Electric in 1993.
Leo moved to Hendersonville, NC in 1996. He was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and proudly served as President and Vice President of the Polish-American Club of Western North Carolina.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa Schepese Czajkowski, and his brother, Edward J. Czajkowski, Jr. He is survived by his wife Ruth Hibbard Czajkowski, his children Mary E. Czajkowski and husband Richard C. Goldrosen, Linda A. Czajkowski, Stephen A. Czajkowski, and Mark E. Czajkowski; and grandson Nicholas C. Goldrosen. He is also survived by his brothers John A. Czajkowski and Patrick Czajkowski, Sr., many nieces and nephews, step children Isaac, Mayer, and Naomi Ersoff and 4 step grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 AM Monday December 23, 2013 at Our Lady of the Angels Chapel of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Directors. Interment will be in Albany, New York.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Heart Association.
