Linda Lee Hipp Obituary
Hendersonville-- Linda Lee Hipp was born February 7, 1945 at Scott Field in Springfield, Ill. She spent most of her childhood in Germany where her father was an Army officer. She graduated high school at the American School in Stuttgart, Germany. She returned to the United States to further her education. She worked her way through college and graduated San Diego State University in 1971. Linda spent a good part of her professional career as Senior Vice President of Bank America Business Credit serving as Director of Marketing and Administration. In addition to her daily responsibilities one of Linda's proudest achievements was to chair the United Way campaign for Bofa Business Credit. She consistently achieved 100 % employee participation and well over the Bofa dollar goal.
On July 19, 1975 Linda married Jim Chesnut. They remained in San Diego where they worked until 1999 when they both retired on the same day. After retirement they moved to Ramona, Ca, a suburb of San Diego, and built their retirement home. In 2008 Linda and Jim moved to Hendersonville where Linda immediately became involved in charitable activities including the Ladies Aid Society of Flat Rock serving as President since 2014. She also was an active member of Historic Flat Rock where she was on the board and executive committee. Additionally she edited the newsletter for Historic Flat Rock.
Linda fought a long hard battle against ovarian cancer and did not allow the disease to diminish her spirit. Linda passed away at Elizabeth House on February 4, 2016 four days short of her 71st birthday.
Linda is survived by her husband Jim, her sister Paula and brother in law Wayne Dillavou of Helena, Mt, her sister Marta Panyard of San Diego Ca, her adult granddaughter Megan Madrigal of Clovis Ca, and her sister in law Janis Warren and her husband Ken of Pittsboro NC.
Linda will always be loved and missed by her family and all those that knew her.
