Lorraine Marion Mohl Dennison Obituary
Lorraine Marion Mohl Dennison (82) died peacefully on November 22, 2015 surrounded by family at the Elizabeth House in Flat Rock, N.C. Lorraine (Laurie) joined the United States Navy after graduating high school in her birth home of New York City. Laurie served at Alameda Air Station in California working in Communications as an Encryption Specialist, and was a Swimming Instructor as well. After her discharge, Laurie moved to Louisiana where she spent the next 41 years raising a family of five children. Laurie adopted the Louisiana culture as her own and loved all things related to south Louisiana. She was a huge fan of the LSU Tigers and the New Orleans Saints, and couldn't wait to watch the games every fall. While in Louisiana Laurie spent time working as a secretary for the International Association of Ironworkers, and practiced her hobbies of making wedding cakes, quilting, and other crafts. Laurie loved to go camping and spent many hours camping across the U.S. with family. She also enjoyed being on the bayou and was quick to jump in the boat to go fishing, or to just enjoy the beauty of the swamp. After all of her children were grown, Laurie particularly enjoyed traveling the country with her husband "Bill" as he traveled for work. Laurie also loved the church, and especially loved doing volunteer work through the church when she was able. After spending brief periods of time in Texas and Florida, Laurie and Bill moved to Hendersonville NC ten years ago to be near family. Throughout her life, and until the end, Laurie kept the wonderful sense of humor and quick wit she was known for, and she will be missed greatly by all who knew her.
Laurie is survived by her husband of 58 years William (Bill) Edward Dennison, three children, Linda D. Linton and husband Clifford W. Linton, Miki G. Nelson, Michael P. A. Gilmore and wife Judith Gilmore, eight grandchildren, Brady L. Bundick, Casey R. Gilmore, Michael P.A. Gilmore Jr., Lauren Richardson, Jonathon A. Matthews, Jennifer L. Matthews, Raymond J. Gilmore, Amanda M. Nelson, four great grandchildren, Vincent C. Bundick, Morgan F. Bundick-White Fox, Caden W. Richardson, and Caleb J. Gilmore, and one great great grandchild, Alyssa M. Rose-White Fox, two sisters, Janet Schmidt and Renee Nicosia, a brother, Larry Englund and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by a son, William Edward Ross Dennison, a daughter, Sharon Jeanne Dennison, and a grandson, Kristopher Jacob James Gauthier.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 30 at the First Baptist Church Chapel in Hendersonville, NC. Flowers and cards of condolences can be sent to the First Baptist Church at 312 5th Ave W., Hendersonville, NC 28739.
