Etowah-- Lucille "Lucy" Jones, age 58 of Etowah went home to be with the Lord Monday, September 28th, 2015 at the Elizabeth House following a courageous fight with cancer.
She was born July 21st, 1957 in Henderson County, a daughter of the late Dewey and Lyda Orr Galloway. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne "Oopie" Jones in 2008; brother, Kenneth "Ken" Galloway in August 2015; and brother-in-law, Edgar Stepp.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County; Lucy graduated from West Henderson High School and she was employed with ConMet in Canton as a human relations coordinator. She loved being outside, spending time with and taking photos of her family, and planting flowers. She attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Eric Jones and his wife, Kristine of Greer, SC; three grandchildren, Eric Michael Jones of Greer, SC, Kaitlyn Jones of Seminole, FL, and Alyssa Jones of Greer, SC; two great-grandchildren, Kash Ellis of Seminole, FL, and Lynox Jones of Greer, SC; two sisters, Linda Stepp and her husband, Dean of Etowah, and Wanda Stepp; brother, William Dalton and his wife, Debbie of Mountain Home; her sister-in-law, Caroline Galloway of Etowah well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 2nd, 2015 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Rick Phillips. Burial will follow the service in Oak Forest Cemetery. Her family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thos. Shepherd & Son Funeral Home.
