Marcella Nicholls Fedor Obituary
HENDERSONVILLE-- Marcella Nicholls Fedor, 88, of Hendersonville, died Wednesday December 11, 2013 at the Elizabeth House. A native of Iron Mountain, Michigan, Marcella, the eldest daughter of their five children was born January 27, 1925 to the late Walter Henry and Florida Poitrus Nicholls. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her step-father, Guy Young; her husband, Andrew Joseph Fedor; her son, Stephen Robert Fedor; and her brother, Alfred Nicholls.
Marcella was a 1943 graduate of Kingsford High School in Kingsford, Michigan. Upon graduation from high school she moved to Chicago, Illinois to work as a supervisor for Illinois Bell Telephone Company until her marriage to Andrew in 1949. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church in LaGrange, Illinois and was involved in the Altar Flower Arrangements, member of the Women's Book Club, worked as the school librarian and was a Girl Scout Leader. While living in LaGrange she was a member of the LaGrange Rose Garden Society, the Village Field Club. After coming to Hendersonville, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the Women's guild, Hendersonville Country Club as well as an active member of the Henderson County Diabetes Coalition.
She is survived by son, Andrew John Fedor of Hendersonville; her daughters, Patricia Ann Sortwell and her husband, Christopher of Texas, Pamela Jo Ann Fedor of Hendersonville; two grandchildren, Laura Elizabeth Sortwell and Michael T. Sortwell both of Texas; her brothers, Robert S. Nicholls and his wife, "Dolly", Walter J. Nicholls and his wife, Vivian of California; her sisters, Glada A. Longpre and her husband, Merrill of Colorado, JoAnne M. Conery of Wisconsin; her sister-in-law, Carol Nicholls of Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister-in-law and friend. She will be truly missed by all that knew and loved her. She and her husband Andrew enhanced the lives of many families when they resided in LaGrange, IL as well as in Hendersonville.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Schratz celebrating. Entombment will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park.
