On May 15, 2013, under an overcast sky that wept gently, Marlies Morgenroth Bradley drew her last, peaceful breath in the company of family and in the hearts of many who remember her for her sweetness, integrity, unwavering convictions, and fierce devotion to her family. Marlies was born on August 3, 1935, in Switzerland and spent her adult years traveling around Asia with her husband, Ian, and children, Christian, Andrew, David and Stefanie. She retired in Etowah, North Carolina, with Ian for 15 years, moving up to Framingham, MA, in 2009, about a year and a half after Ian's passing. She was once a gourmet chef, conversant in a half dozen languages, and wizened world traveller, but it was humility and love of family that would mark her last years. Marlies was a pancreatic cancer survivor who endeared herself to others with her sincerity, tenacity, and gentility, and she will be missed for the unbridled pleasure she got from spending time with those she loved. Donations can be made in her memory at the Pancreatic Cancer Alliance. Please send checks to the UMASS Memorial Foundation/Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 015145 (Please include her name with your donation.)
