Mary Ellen (Justus) Watts Obituary
Mary Ellen Justus Watts, 92, of Hendersonville, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 at the Elizabeth House. She was born on February 13, 1923 to the late Frederick and Virginia Reticker Justus. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Billy Black Watts, Sr., and a sister, Margaret Prim.
A native of Henderson County, Mary Ellen enjoyed being a homemaker and she was of the Methodist faith. She attended the First United Methodist Church of Hendersonville for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved to cook, read, and take care of her family. It is also worthy to note that she was the granddaughter of the late Dr. W. H. Justus, founder of Justus Pharmacy.
She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Watts Woodham and her husband, John, of Hendersonville; a son, Billy Black Watts, Jr. and his wife, Sheryl, of Hendersonville; a sister, Fredy Justus of Sebring, FL; grandchildren; Deanna Watts Aiken and her husband, Christian, of Charlotte, NC, Kelly Tisdale Smith and her husband, Scott, of Anderson, SC, Jeff Tisdale, III and his wife, Barbie, of Charleston, SC, Ryan Tisdale and his wife, Beth, of Charleston, SC, Tee Woodham and his wife, Jen, of Charleston, SC, Jeremy Woodham of Florence, SC; great-grandchildren; Stephen Odom of Pendleton, SC, Watts Tisdale of Charleston, SC, and Kayla Liley of Charleston, SC; and a great-great grandson, Hendrix Odom of Pendleton, SC.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2016 at the Shepherd Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel. Inurnment will follow in the Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Street, Flat Rock, NC 28731, or the Hendersonville Rescue Mission, 639 Maple Street, Hendersonville, NC 28793.
