Obituary Condolences

MARIETTA, G.A.-Mary Johnson Tidrick, 64, of Marietta, died on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Emory University Hospital. Born in Hendersonville, NC to the late Merritt & Rosemary Johnson, Mary attended Catawba College in Salisbury, NC, where she met her husband, Jeff; they married in 1972 and moved to metro-Atlanta. Mary & Jeff raised three daughters, Jordan, Lindsey, & Merritt, in Marietta. A teacher at heart, Mary worked at Suder Elementary in Jonesboro, the High Meadows School in Roswell, the Tidrick home raising her daughters, Murdock Elementary School in Marietta, Cobb County School District Professional Development programs, Russell Elementary School in Smyrna, and, most recently, at Addison Elementary School in Marietta. Always learning, particularly about new technology to use with her students, Mary earned a Master's Degree in Instructional Technology from Lesley University in 2007. Mary was also a captivating storyteller, sharing this gift as a special guest in her daughters' & grandson's classes, at Vacation Bible Schools, in her own classroom, in theatre productions, and in worship services. While her daughters were young, she was a group leader of the La Leche League and was a life-long advocate of breastfeeding. Mary was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church & the Discovery Sunday school class, Cobb County Relay for Life, the Saddle Ridge Lake Tripoli Card Club, the Beach Moms, and the Hendersonville High School Class of 1968.
Mary is survived by her husband of 43 years, Jeffrey Tidrick; her daughters Jordan Tidrick of Marietta, Lindsey Ory (Brett Ory) of Slidell, LA, and Merritt Maguire (Patrick Maguire) of Auburn, AL; her grandsons Lucas Ory and Price Maguire; her brothers Merritt Johnson Jr & Berry Johnson, both of Hendersonville, NC; and a large & loving extended family.
A funeral service to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2015 at 4:00 pm at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church in Marietta. After the service, a gathering for family & friends will be held in the Mt. Zion Family Ministries Hall.
