Rev. Michael Eugene Engle Obituary
Rev. Michael Eugene Engle, 68, of Hendersonville, NC, went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 7, 2016 at the Elizabeth House. Rev. Engle was born June 4, 1948, in Abilene, KS, the son of the late Voiland Eugene Engle and Opal Mae Epler Engle. Mike loved God, his family, his church, and life in general. His passion was to honor God by serving those in need. He loved butterflies, because they represented "new life in Christ." Pastor Mike was called into the ministry in the summer of 1967. He graduated from Miltonvale Wesleyan College in 1970 with a Bachelor's degree in religion. Pastor Mike served as the Youth and Music Director of the Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan Church in Asheboro, NC for 4 ½ years. For the past 41 years, he served as pastor of First Wesleyan Church in Hendersonville, NC. He was a member of the Ministerial Association and worked with various organizations to help his community. Pastor Mike started his "Bread of Life Ministry," delivering food for the needy all over Henderson County. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Patti Engle; his children, Michael Eugene Engle Jr., and Rhonda Michelle Engle Case and her husband Philip; siblings, Saundra Nash and husband Keith, Mark Engle and wife Retha, Dennis Engle and wife Elaine; grandchildren, Benjamin Engle and Steele Engle. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Bethel Wesleyan Church located at 909 Tracy Grove Road in Hendersonville, NC. Rev. Tom Smith, Rev. Bob Allred, and Youth Minister Robert Murphey will officiate. Following the memorial service, a reception will be held at the First Wesleyan Church, 911 Highland Avenue, Hendersonville, NC.
