HENDERSONVILLE - Mitchell "Junior" Capps, 81, of Hendersonville, passed away Saturday, April 6, 2013, at Elizabeth house after a brief illness. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was a son of the late Mitchell Capps, Sr. and Lola E. Pace Capps. He was also preceded in death by a sister, and four brothers.
He was a shipping foreman with International Paper, retiring after 28 years of service. He served in the Navy during the Korean War era. He loved playing shuffleboard and gardening. He attended First Baptist Church, Hendersonville.
Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years, Carolyn Dean Capps; a son, Wally Capps and Denise Reitmeier, of Taylors, S.C.; a brother, L.D. "Buck" Capps and his wife Katherine, of Edneyville, and a number of nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Phillip Capell will officiate. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service in the chapel.
