Paul Royace Hipps Obituary
Paul Royace Hipps, 85, of Mills River, died Tuesday, September 29, 2015. A native of Jackson Co. NC, he was the son of the late Lovell and Nannie Mae Nations Hipps. A Veteran of the United States Army he served during WWII. Following his service he went on to work for General Electric where he was a Quality Control Inspector. He was a very active member of Fanning Chapel Methodist Church, where he was a Sunday School Teacher for fifty years.
Mr. Hipps enjoyed wood working, was a volunteer at Four Seasons Hospice for ten years, and was a vendor at Hendersonville Tailgate Farmers Market.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Lenoir Hipps, and a sister, Lena Fitzgerald. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Lillian Shook Hipps; two daughters, Pamela D. Hipps of Mills River and Debra Hipps Renew and her husband Myron of Aiken, SC; two brothers, Lonnie Hipps and his wife Carolyn, and John Hipps and his wife Judy both of Canton; two sisters, Ardith Brown and her husband John of Canton, and Lois Elliott of Bryson City; and several nieces and neph-ews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 2:00-3:00 PM at Fanning Chapel Methodist Church, 5490 Old Haywood Rd., Mills River. A Celebration of Life will fol-low at 3:00, with the Rev.'s Mike Phipps and Glenda Edney officiating.
Highlands Cremation and Funeral Care, 2393 Hendersonville Rd, is assisting the family.
