Ray C. Stafford Obituary
Ray C. Stafford, age 89, died at the Elizabeth House, on Wednesday, April 27, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Charlotte Burleson Stafford. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Addison Stafford and his grandson, Isaac C. Stafford.
Ray was a proud Army veteran who served in World War II, and was a faithful member of the Plantation Baptist Church of Plantation, Florida. He retired in 1989 from Napoleon Steel after almost 20 years. In the beginning of 1990 Ray and his wife, "Jean" became summer residents of Hendersonville, returning to Florida for the winter. Ray enjoyed playing golf and traveling. He was passionate about spending time with his entire family, especially his grandchildren.
He leaves behind his wife of almost 65 years, Emogene "Jean"; one brother, H. C. Stafford and wife Ruth of East Bank, W.V., as well as one sister, Zelda Porter of Boynton Beach, FL as well as one son, C. Scott Stafford and his wife, Katy of Hendersonville, as well as one daughter, Yolanda Svitak and her husband Chuck, of Boynton Beach FL. Five grandchildren: Bradley Svitak of Boynton Beach FL, Madelyn Stafford, Mackenzy Stafford, Daisy Stafford, and Joey Stafford all of Hendersonville, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 30, 2016 at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel, the family received friends one hour prior to the service. A graveside service was held at 2:00 p.m. at the Yellow Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery in Plum-tree.
