FERNANDINA, Fla. --Mr. Richard A. Jacek, age 99, formerly of Cleveland, OH and Hendersonville, NC passed away on Friday morning, March 13, 2015 at the Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, FL.
Born in Cleveland, OH, he was the eldest and only son of two children born to the late Alfred and Lucille Hunt Jacek. He grew up in Cleveland and was a graduate of John Adams High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, he began a long career with General Electric. In 1940 he met a coworker, Gwendollan Harper, that would become his wife. The Jaceks had two children; Richard and Wendy. During Mr. Jacek's career he worked in various management and leadership positions not only in the United States but also in G.E.'s manufacturing plants in Chile, Mexico and Europe. He retired in 1982 and he and his wife settled in Hendersonville, NC. In 2013 they moved to the Atlantic shores of Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, FL to be near their daughter and her family.
Mr. Jacek leaves behind, his wife of 69 years, Gwen Jacek, Fernandina Beach, FL, their children, Richard Jacek and his wife, Lori, Sylvania, OH, Wendy Langley and her husband, Gil, Fernandina Beach, FL, three grandchildren, Julie Bookmiller, Andrew Jacek, Brittany Hill Aron and a great grand daughter, Arya Bookmiller.
