HENDERSONVILLE-Richard J. (Dick) Husak, 80, of Hendersonville died Sunday September 7, 2014 at the Charles George V A Medical Center in Asheville. He was born June 6, 1934 to the late Paul and Ruth Dashney Husak. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sister Barbara.
Dick was born in Pittsburgh, PA. in 1934, moving throughout several parts of the United States over his adult life. He was proud to have worked for Eastern Airlines from 1957 until his retirement in 1989. He was a Navy Veteran, serving in the Korean War. He loved fishing and was an avid reader. He was also a sports enthusiast, often advising coaches how plays should be conducted. His family is sure that his passing at the beginning of football season was to ensure the "correct" team would win the Super Bowl this year. He was blessed by amazing friends who made sure they were a part of his life till the end.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years Jackie; his daughters Debbie Morris and son in law Mark, Jody Moffitt and son in law Terry Smith, Jill Hinde and son in law John; Son Rick and daughter in law Laura. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; his brother David and wife Ruth Ann, and sister Paula Kipp and husband Scott.
The family would like to thank the VA Med Center for their loving care and support, and also Dr. John K. Hill and the staff at Hendersonville Oncology.
A memorial service will take place 4:30 PM, Saturday Sept. 13, 2014 at the Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel. Dick's cremains will be scattered in the Spring at his favorite fishing spot.
