Robert Foster Ogden Obituary
Mr. Robert Foster Ogden, age 88 of Flat Rock died Monday, October 10th, 2016 at Margaret R. Pardee Memorial Hospital. He was born January 27th, 1928 in Albany, New York; a son of the late, Tarrence and Selma Ogden. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Richards.
A longtime resident of Henderson County; Mr. Ogden was a 1949 graduate of DePauw University in Greencastle, IN. Prior to moving to Henderson County, he resided in Chagrin Falls, OH and Trumbull, CT. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps; following his retirement from the military, he was employed for 38 years with General Electric. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, the Kenmure Chorale Group and was Past President of the Kenmure Board of Directors. He volunteered for many years with the Henderson County Sheriff's Department Volunteer in Partnership (V.I.P.).
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, June J. Ogden; two sons, Scott Ogden and his wife, Janet and Richard Ogden and his wife, Stephanie; two daughters, Jenifer Johnston and her husband, Alistair and Kathy French; five grandchildren, Erika, Alyse, James, Avery and Andrew; two great-grandchildren, Jayce and Ryder; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 17th, 2016 in the Sanctuary of Grace Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Ken Langsdorf.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations in Robert's memory be directed to Grace Lutheran Church, 1245 6th Avenue West, Hendersonville, NC 28739 or to a charity of the donor's choice.
