Thelma Camp Obituary
GREEN RIVER-Thelma Capps Camp, 89, of Green River, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 4, 2014.
She was a native and lifelong resident of Henderson County and a daughter of the late Ollie Redden Capps and Napoleon Joseph Capps.
She was a member of Mountain Valley Baptist Church and worked over the years as a switchboard operator, textile worker and home healthcare provider. Her family meant everything to her. She delighted in her grandchildren and hugged them every chance she had. She also loved feeding and watching the birds outside her window and caring for her precious dog, Skippy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Grady Camp, who died in 2010.
Survivors include her sister, Jan Maybin and husband, Henry, of Green River; her daughter, Ruby Beal and husband, Jody, of Hendersonville; her son, Doyce Camp and wife, Sandra, of Green River; three granddaughters, Lori Brim and husband, Paul, of Flat Rock, Amy McCraw and husband, Corey, of Green River, Cindy Hill and husband, Ben, of Midlothian, Virginia; four great-grandchildren, Jack Brim, Casey McCraw, Kayla Hill and Drew Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Mountain Valley Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the church. At other times, the family will be at the home of Doyce Camp at 301 Cabin Creek Road in Zirconia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Four Seasons Hospice at 571 South Allen Road in Flat Rock.
