HENDERSONVILLE-Col. Thomas Kane Galleher, Sr. (U.S. Army, RET) age 92, of Hendersonville died Wednesday, December 10th, 2014 at the Elizabeth House following a long illness.
Col. Galleher was born at Fort Snelling, MN, the son of the late Col. Paul Corbin Galleher and Caroline McCullough Galleher.
He joined the U.S. Army in 1942 and retired in 1969. He was a distinguished veteran of World War II and Korea serving in the 31st and 32ndInfantry, 7th Division. Col. Galleher graduated from the University of Maryland, Advanced Infantry School and the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.
Col. Galleher and his wife settled in Hendersonville in 2009 and are members of St. James Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Jones Galleher; his son, Thomas K. Galleher, Jr. of Haymarket, VA; and his brother, Davis Sessoms Galleher of Boone.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 12th, 2015 at St. James Episcopal Church with full military honors. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Stillwell Hall.
