Virginia (Burns) West Obituary
Virginia Burns West, 87, of Hendersonville moved to her eternal home on Friday, August 31, 2018.
A lifelong resident of Henderson County, she was a daughter of the late Curtis and Lela Bane Burns. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. West (1995); brothers, Adger Burns and Joe Burns; sisters, Irene D'Aguanno, Margaret Stepp and Hazel Lanning; son-in-law, Dr. Michael D. Powell; and only grandchild, Michael W. McDowell.
Virginia was a substitute teacher for Henderson County Public Schools for over 40 years before retiring in 2010. She was a member of the Reformation Presbyterian Church and also the Rob Morris Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She leaves behind her son, Jerry Argenzio-West ("RJ"); daughters, Dixie West Powell, Ginny West McDowell (Wade) and Mary West; and sisters, Carolyn Bowse (John) and Anne Stein.
Visitation will be Monday, September 3 from 6 to 8 pm at Forest Lawn Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 3 PM Tuesday, September 4 at the Reformation Presbyterian Church with Reverend Matt Lucas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reformation Presbyterian Church, 120 7th Ave W Hendersonville, NC 28792 or to the Black Mountain Home for Children, 80 Lake Eden Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711.
