Walter G. "Pop" Crowell Obituary
Walter "Pop" G Crowell passed away on February 6, 2018, at the Tennessee State Veterans Home in Knoxville. In his last days, he was surrounded by the VA's loving, caring staff and family. The Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, February 11th, at 12:15pm, Trinity Presbyterian Church Serenity Garden, 800 Blythe Street, Hendersonville, NC. In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made to the Ben Atchley Veterans Home (TSVH – Knoxville), or your favorite Veteran's charity, or the Trinity Presbyterian Serenity Garden, where he will be interred in the columbarium.

Walter was born in Valley Stream, NY, where he met Florence, while borrowing a lawn mower. Florence and Walter were married in The Little Church Around the Corner, New York, NY, in 1947. He was a Navy carrier pilot during WWII, serving proudly from 1943-1953. As an entrepreneur, he owned grocery stores, restaurants, and a construction company. He was a long-time resident of Asheville, NC, Lake Toxaway, NC, and Hendersonville, NC, before moving to Knoxville, Tn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Crowell, and Florence S Crowell, his wife of 62 years. Walter is survived by Gary K Crowell (Sandi), Glenn A Crowell (Donna), Gregg L Crowell (Lodema), Geoffery L Crowell (Anne), William J Crowell (Gretchen), and Deborah S Carter (Mark). His grand-children are: Walter Crowell, Joseph Crowell (Jackie), Michael Crowell (Audrey), Travis Crowell , Bethany Hall (James), William Carter, Frances Carter, Elizabeth Carter, and Isabella Crowell. His great-grandchildren are Jackson, Patton, Katelyn, and Brice.
