Walter Malcolm Campbell Obituary
Walter Malcolm Campbell, 84, passed away on March 1, 2016 with his loving wife and family by his side at Pardee Hospital in Hendersonville, North Carolina. Walter was born on November 25, 1931. He was the second of two children raised by Walter and Ethel (Schmidt) Campbell of Toledo, Ohio, where Walter was born. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lois.
Walter lived a fulfilling life that included service in the US Navy during the Korean War, a long successful career in the financial services industry with some of the most respected firms in the business, and a life-long appreciation of Jack Daniels and jazz music cultivated during his residence in Chicago. He quietly and unselfishly impacted many people with his kindness, wisdom, and oft-repeated stories on family, music, history, and investments. Walter's greatest pride and joy in life were his family, his life-long friendships, playing golf, and his building of a successful investment management business with his wife, Margot.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Margot; daughter, Cameron (Nicolaas); sons, Douglas and Chip (Pamela); sister in-law Suzi (Patrick) Renn; grandsons, Colin and Rhys; nephews, Tyler (Rhea Leigh and Asher) Renn, and Owen Renn; and his "boys", Sage and Sam.
Services will be held at Thos. Shepherd's Church Street Chapel at 125 S. Church Street, Hendersonville, NC on Monday, March 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Pardee Hospital Foundation 800 N. Justice Street, Hendersonville, NC 28791.
