Warren Schiesser Obituary
IRMO, SC – Warren Schiesser, 92, of Irmo, passed away Sunday, March 22, 2015. Born in Queens, New York on June 15, 1922, he was a son of the late Peter and Rose Drewien Schiesser. Warren served his country proudly and honorably in the US Navy during WW II, where he served aboard the U.S.S. Escalante. After his time in the service, he worked at Ray Electric Company in New York for 40 years. Upon retirement, he moved to Hendersonville, NC where he lived for 34 years before moving to Irmo in 2013. Warren was an avid sports fan. He loved "his" New York Mets, and the New York Rangers.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife of 66 years, Florence Harrison Schiesser; daughters, Jan Mitchell (Gary), Jill Atkinson (Tom), and Cathy Jansen (George) all of Columbia, SC; son, Robert Schiesser (Ellen) of Chapin, SC; son-in-law, Bernie Griffin of Irmo; grandchildren, Ryan Mitchell Spencer, David Mitchell (Helen), Taylor, Hanna and Croft Griffin, Bo Pettway, Robert Jansen(Brittany), Jenny and Greg Jansen, Katelyn Schiesser; great-grandchildren, Cade and Peyton Spencer, Bailey Griffin, Harrison Pettway and Jonathan Jansen. He was predeceased by a sister, Marian Poppe, and a brother, Harold Schiesser.
The family wishes to thank the caring professionals at Palmetto Health Baptist Parkridge Hospital, Hands and Hearts Home Care and Palmetto Care Hospice for the exceptional care they gave.
