Washington Clay Babcock Obituary
February 22, 1921 - October 3, 2016
Clay was born in Alexandria, Indiana. He was the son of Dessie Amy Babcock and Charles Babcock. He was a graduate of Ball State in Muncie, Indiana and had both a Bachelor's and a Master's degree there. He was in the Army in World War II, serving in New Mexico.
He was a gentleman and a scholar. He was a Life Member of the Audubon Society and a teacher of courses for the society. He was a longtime volunteer for the Alzheimer's support group in Hendersonville. He also taught high school Physics. His art works were many and he was fond of puzzles, weaving and gardening. He was an accomplished woodworker.
He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Clarence Babcock, his sister Blanche Babcock Smith as well as his wife Mary Sinclair Babcock. He is survived by 2 nieces and 2 nephews who will greatly miss him.
There will be no service.
In lieu of flowers, smile at someone and remember Clay.
