Wayne Cephus "Turk" McCall Obituary
Wayne "Turk" Cephus McCall, age 62, of Hendersonville passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 17th, 2016 at the Elizabeth House following a courageous battle with brain cancer. He was the son of the late, Rex Dunlap McCall and Beulah Hill McCall. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Libby McCall; and by his brother, Rex McCall, Jr.
A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County; Wayne was a 1973 graduate of West Henderson High School. He was employed with Industries for the Blind in Asheville; he loved each and every one of his colleagues. He often referred to them as family. He will forever be grateful to his boss and friend, Randy Buckner, who was so caring and was always there for Wayne.
He is survived by his loving and caring wife of 35 years, Sheila Noblett McCall; his daughter, Meredith Simpson and her husband, Tim of Hendersonville; his son, Chad McCall and his wife Mallory of Asheville; three grandchildren, that were the absolute love of his life, Jacobi, Malachi and Julianna Simpson of the home. He is also survived by his two sisters, Linda Wilson and her husband, Bob (the Colonel) of Columbus and Brenda Bowling of Hendersonville; his two sisters-in-law, Connie Wheeler and Linda Rogers and her husband, Gary; one brother-in-law, Eddie Noblett all of Hendersonville; and by several nieces, nephews, cousins and Aunt Sissy.
Wayne unselfishly donated his body to Duke Medical Hospital for cancer research in hope to help others with cancer.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all of those with Four Seasons Hospice and the Elizabeth House who cared for Wayne during his illness; a special thank you to his nurse, Shelly Connor, whom he thought so much of.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 26th, 2016 at Moore's Grove United Methodist Church officiated by the Reverend Deb Demorest.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, Wayne requested that donations be directed to Industries for the Blind, 240 Sardis Road, Asheville, NC 28806; or to Four Seasons Hospice, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
