MILLS RIVER - William Chester Revis, 78, died on Monday, September 1, 2014, at the Elizabeth House. He was preceded in death by his parents, numerous siblings as well as two children, William Max Revis and Stanley Dean Revis.
"Bill," as he was known by his friends, was a native of Weaverville and attended Weaverville High School. He worked in numerous manufacturing jobs over his career, and finally drove a milk truck prior to his retirement.
He was a devoted member of Bethel Baptist Church in Mills River. His greatest joy in life was his family. He enjoyed playing his "Do Bro" and spending time outdoors, especially on camping trips. He was a clock enthusiast and had them all over the house, a passion that was not passed on to any of his children.
He is survived by his wife of over 58 years, Marcella. Three children: Wanda Lynn Revis Forkin and her husband, Michael, of Greenwood, S.C.; Lorrine Revis Marks and her husband, Greg; and Scott Ervin Revis and his wife, Carolyn, all of Mills River. Nine grandchildren: William Revis, Travis McDaris, Tracey McDaris, T.J. McDaris, Jonathan Forkin, Jessica Forkin, Alyssa Forkin, Tony Myers and Kayla Myers; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Revis Stepp and Betty Revis Roberts; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at Thos. Shepherd' s Church Street Chapel with Pastor Keith Norris and Pastor Greg Bell officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
