ZIRCONIA - Robert "Parks" Dula, 86, of Zirconia, died on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville after an extended illness. A native of Morganton, he was born on August 8, 1926 to the late Albert and Margaret Dula. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Pam Miller and his granddaughter, Bree Elizabeth Miller.
He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II in the European, African, and Pacific Theaters aboard the USS Birmingham. He spent most of his working career as a maintenance supervisor and he moved to Zirconia in 1971.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Prue Gant Dula; his grandson, Torrey Scott Miller; his sister, Lena Engstrom of Soddy Daizy, TN; his two brothers, Forrest and Ray Dula of Morganton and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
