SPINDALE - Darlene Marie Lamphier Chavis, of Spindale, died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at the Spartanburg Regional Hospital.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Crestlawn Memorial Park, with Larry Wannamaker officiating. Viewing will take place thirty minutes prior to the service at the graveside. The family will receive friends at the graveside at that time.
Born on Sept. 24, 1957, Mrs. Chavis was a daughter of the late George Edward Lamphier and Louise Miner Lamphier. After living in Orangeburg County for most of her life, she moved to Hendersonville, and then to Spindale, to be closer to her family. Her passion was for her children and grandchildren, devoting her life in caring for each child. Her unconditional love was always a source of strength and encouragement in their lives. She loved books and reading and shared both with many. She leaves behind a loving legacy.
Survivors are a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Louise Williamson and Tim Jones, of Spindale; a son, Dustin James Williamson, of Brevard; two sisters, Beverly Lamphier Livingston and husband Vance Livingston, of Gainesville, Ga., and Lorraine Dale Rutland, of Neeses, S.C.; one brother, Jon Lamphier and wife Christie, of Westport, Ct.; grandchildren, Edward and Jasmine Williamson; Courtney, Ashten, and Isabella (Izzy) Williamson; Tyler, Brandon and Teagan Jones; stepmother, Linda Lamphier, of Zirconia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Dukes-Harley Funeral Home in Orangeburg, S.C. to help offset expenses.
