BLUFFTON, S.C.-John Edgar McCormick, 74, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital in Savannah, GA on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. John was born on July 29, 1939 in Coral Gables, FL and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a son of the late Edgar and Anna Houston McCormick.|
John and his wife, Judy, retired recently to Sun City/ Bluffton, SC from Hendersonville, NC.
John graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a B.S. Degree in Accounting. He was a Certified Public Accountant and served as Chief Financial Officer for technology companies. He retired in 2000 from Rockwell Automation.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Judy; his daughters: Heather Thomas (Todd), Suwanee, GA; Colleen Dixon (Jeffrey) Lawrenceville, GA; Molly Berger, Suwanee, GA; stepsons: Thomas Sheedy (Maggie) Washington, DC; Daniel Sheedy (Debby), Alpharetta, GA; Jeffrey Sheedy (Paola), Quito, Ecuador; a brother, James McCormick, Pittsburgh, PA and thirteen grandchildren.
John enjoyed woodworking and was a past president of the Atlanta Woodworkers Association. He was an avid reader and enjoyed a good game of golf.
A celebration of John's life will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 1pm at The Church of The Cross, 110 Calhoun Street, Bluffton, SC with interment to follow in the memorial garden overlooking the May River.
His family suggests that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association or charity of your choice.
