Doris Allen

Doris M. Allen, 90, of Hendersonville went home to be with the Lord on Monday, August 27, 2018.
A native of West Paris, ME, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Catherine Oliver MacCallum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Rev. Arthur "Art" Allen who passed away earlier this year and two sisters, Jean Goodwin and Ruth Dow.
Doris received her Master's in Science from the University of Connecticut. She also attended Eastern Nazarene in College in MA. She was a teacher for nearly 35 years before retiring in 1992. Doris and Art moved where God called them to be and previously lived and ministered in Vermont, Maine, New York, Connecticut, and Florida before moving to Hendersonville in 2004. She spent her life as a Pastor's wife, entertaining guests and missionaries from all over the world. Doris' love for quilting exploded following her retirement. She was a member of Hendersonville First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors include her son, Wayne L. Allen of Woodstown, NJ; daughter, Sharon Allen Lloyd of Hendersonville; grandsons, Shawn Allen and his wife, Tracy, Michael Allen and his wife, Kim of CT; granddaughters, Angela Greer and her husband, Richard of FL, Amy Pakidis and her husband, Brian of VA, Nancy Lloyd of MS; great-grandchildren, Lilly, Olivia, Evelyn, and Alyshia Allen, Mike Allen, Jr., Jasmine Alvord, Christopher, Logan, and Christianna Pakidis, and Landon Greer; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, August 30 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Sherman Waters officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation for the loving care that was provided to their parents by the staff at Sunnybrook Assisted Living.
