Robert Joubert Obituary

Robert James Joubert, 66, beloved husband, father, grandpa, son, brother, and friend, went to be with Jesus on Friday, July 31, 2015.
On November 24, 1948, he was born to Gene and Ann Joubert in Norwich, Ct. When he was nine years old the family moved to Hendersonville. He went to Hendersonville City Schools, graduated from Hendersonville High, UNC-A, and received his master's degree and administration degree from Western Carolina University.
He started his teaching career at Edneyville Elementary and Edneyville High School in 1970, and continued to teach there until the opening of North Henderson. He taught special education for 23 years before becoming assistant principal at Flat Rock Middle School. He remained there until he was forced to retire because of health issues.
He was always for the less fortunate and made a positive impact on both adults and students. He had a way of making something good come from a difficult situation. He had a calming spirit and loved everyone and everyone loved him. Robert was a father figure to so many young men. He was a Godly man and a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for 57 years.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 45 years, Rose Mary; daughters, Joy Joubert and Tara Joubert, both of Etowah; his precious grandson, Moses Joubert; granddaughter-in- love, Beverly Elmore; son-in-love, David Elmore; best friend, Dot Case; sister, Mariane Adams and her husband Larry of Charlotte; brother, Ronald Joubert and his wife Cheryl of Woodstock, GA and their children, Keith Joubert and his wife Melissa, of Hendersonville, and Paul Joubert and his wife Ami, of Woodstock, GA and their children, Mia and Addi; sister-in-law, Cheri Pryor and husband Gary, of Edneyville and their children, Adam, David and Denise; brother-in-law, Dennis Griffin and wife Susan of Hendersonville, and their children, Mandi, Laura and Andrew; and a special cousin, Sister Charles Marie of CT. He also leaves behind many, many dear ones who were not related. We have been blessed beyond measure with family and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alan Huffman and staff, especially Lisa Harris, who was his vascular nurse for 20 years, Dr. Robert Bailey and his staff who were so caring, the Mount Home Fire Department, and the Hendersonville Rescue Squad for their kind service.
A funeral mass will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Reverend Martin Schratz officiating. Burial will follow at Shepherd Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Tuesday, August 4th at Shuler Funeral Home. And at other times the family will be at the home of Joy and Tara Joubert, 177 Brickyard Rd., Etowah, NC 28729.
Ballbearers will be "his boys" David Elmore, Scott Rhodes, Michael Outlaw, Steve Musser, Matthew Ramsey, Justin Heatherly, Darren Hall, and Bruce Gilliam, each of whom he loved dearly.
Memorials may be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church 208 7th Ave West, Hendersonville, NC 28791-3602, Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731, and Hendersonville Rescue Mission.

Robert and I were in school together in Hendersonville. I especially remember sitting behind Robert in Mrs Westmoreland 's senior English class. He made me laugh and smile each day. I still remember how much fun we had. I was looking forward to seeing at our 50th reunion next year.
To his family, I am so sorry for your loss. I know he must have been a great husband and father let alone grandfather.

Rosemary and Family,
As I sit here reading the obituary, was thinking of all the people in this world, Joube was the one person whom I could not think of any thing but what a wonderful person he was. He was a light in the education environment and so sad to see it distinguished and that health issues took him away from the children and adults who loved him. Take comfort in your memories and knowing how much he was respected and loved. RIP Mr. Joubert.

The Joube was one of our favorites. He loved his family and considered school kids as part of his family. He was kind hearted and generous but would stand up for what he believed in. The passing of his light leaves our world just a little darker!
