Frances Britt Obituary
She was born in Raleigh, NC on February 17, 1945 and is survived by her husband Dr. Jack Haiden Britt of Etowah, NC, daughter Stephanie Britt Griffin (Chris) of Berkeley Lake, GA, daughter Dr. Heather Rae Britt of St. Paul, MN, grandchildren Maddy, Henry, Britt and Brooks, and sister Judy Atkins Durden and brother Herbert Gary Atkins.
Frances graduated from ApexHigh School and Atlantic Christian College (Barton College) and worked in her early career for the North Carolina National Guard and Michigan State University and as a teacher in public schools. Known for her compassionate hospitality, she enjoyed hosting students and their families at her homes in Michigan, North Carolina and Tennessee where her husband served at universities. Frances was an exceptional neighbor to have, treating those who lived near her just like family. She was actively involved with her churches in North Carolina, Michigan and Tennessee. Courageously facing health issues over her lifetime, Frances remained ever steadfast about caring for others.
She was preceded in death by her father Herbert Blumer Atkins, mother Christine Currin Atkins, sister Carolyn Atkins Beddingfield, half-sister Alice Ann Kellum, and brother Robert Kent Atkins.
A celebration of her life will be held at Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church in Brevard NC on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Black Mountain Children's Home in her honor https://www.blackmountainhome.org/donate/

Jack, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your wife and also brother Jenks. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It has been 52 years since I pledged Alphi Chi in the spring of '66 when I got to briefly know you and Jenks. I always had the greatest respect for you and Jenks and followed both of your successful careers. Wishing you peace and strength in the days ahead.
