Billy J. Rude(1930-2013)

Billy J. Rude, 82, Boonville, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at the Lee's Summit Medical Center, Lee's Summit, Mo.
A funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church officiated by Father Bob Duesdieker; visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at Davis Funeral Chapel with a Knights of Columbus prayer service at 6 p.m., and a prayer service led by Father Bob Duesdieker at 6:15 p.m.; burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Pilot Grove. The family suggests contributions to the St. Peter & Paul Catholic School Endowment Fund.
Mr. Rude was born April 15, 1930, in Rocheport, Mo. He attended Rocheport schools and was a 1946 graduate of New Franklin High School. He was a resident of the Boonville and Pilot Grove area most of his adult life.
He was in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was an engineer on the Rock Island Railroad and the Chicago & North Western Railroad for many years before he retired and was a member of the United Transportation Union. He also worked for the Boonville Police Department and the Medical Arts Pharmacy in Boonville, and was a bus driver for the Pilot Grove School District.
Mr. Rude was a member of St. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, and a former member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pilot Grove. He was a fourth degree lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus Chapter 1061 in Boonville and served as grand knight from 1992 to 1994. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 266, Pilot Grove.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Geneva Rude; three brothers, Roy Rude, Carl Rude and Clyde Rude; and one sister, Ruth Coleman.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Agnes Rude, of the home, 14 nephews, 10 nieces; two brother-in-laws, Virgil Kempf, Raymore, Mo., and Donald Kempf and his wife, Virginia, Independence, Mo.; four sister-in-laws, Catherine Wessing, Pilot Grove, Lucille Stone, Sedalia, Jeanette Crump, and her husband, Dennis, Boonville; and Judith McKerlie, Independence.
