Vernon H Hartman(1919-2013)

Vernon H. Hartmann, 93, of Boonville, passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday afternoon, January 23, 2013.

Memorial services will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013 with Rev. Bill Campbell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 o'clock until time of the service. Inurnment will take place at 1:00 P.M. on Monday at Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.

Mr. Hartman was born the 4th of July, 1919, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of Joseph and Stephanie Hartmann.

Married to Ann Hartmann, December 19, 1942, he was immediately drafted to serve three years in the Army Air Corps, during WWII. After serving his country he graduated from Washington University with both an Industrial and Chemical Engineering degree. His first Engineering position was with Monsanto Co., then taking a position with Olin Corporations he became their successful trouble shooter and at 51 years of age was able to retire as Vice President of production. Turning down a CEO position that would move his family to Connecticut, he chose to come back to Missouri and settle in the Boonville area.

He enjoyed all outdoor activities and traveling, his favorite being paragliding with his grandson Adam Hartmann, in the Swiss Alps at 84 yrs. of age. He was also a volunteer treasurer for the Kemper Military Academy and a board member of Friends of Historic Boonville. He was a great supporter to his wife of 70 years, Ann Hartmann in all her volunteer efforts and involvements throughout their years in Boonville.

He is survived by his wife Ann Hartmann, of the home, his two children Brad Hartmann and Lisa Hartmann and one grandson, Adam Hartmann, now serving in the Army and stationed in Afghanistan.
