William Fariss Schnell 81 of Boonville passed away Friday afternoon December 14th at University Hospital in Columbia.
Visitation for Bill was held Sunday, December 16th at Nelson Memorial United Church in Boonville. Funeral services were at 11am Monday, December 17th at the church. Burial followed in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
William Fariss Schnell was born in Boonville MO July 25th, 1931 the son of William Charles Schnell and Velma Fariss Schmitt. He married the former Mary Beth Tebbe Walters. Bill was a well known well driller respected by all in his field of expertise in water well drilling and oil and gas drilling. He served in all capacities from board of directors to President of the MO Water Well Association. He was known throughout the states of MO, OK, and IL. He continued the business his father W.C. Schnell started in 1915 until his retirement in 2003 and it continues today through the 4th generation. He was a member of the Nelson Memorial United Methodist Church as he was affectionately known to all as the "Candy Man".
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sons Charles Lester Schnell, James Richard Schnell and John Michael Schnell, two granddaughters, Amy Luanne Schnell, Kimberly Schnell Dobson and a sister Kathryne Frankum. He is survived by his wife Mary Beth of the home, children; Bill (Valerie) Schnell of Aurora MO, David (Kay) Schnell of Rocheport MO, Gary Schnell of OK, Daughter-in-law, Cathy Schnell of Boonville MO, Stevie Schnell of Boonville MO, Donnie (Cindy) of Oolagah OK, Karen (Danny) Korte of Huntsville AR, Tommy (Tonya) Schnell of Boonville MO, Sara Kay (Denny) Farris of Boonville MO, Kristopher (Laura) Walters of Lenexa KS, Greg (Kelle) Walters of Wooldridge MO. Also surviving is a brother, Don Schnell of Boonville MO and sister, Jean Haller of Pilot Grove, MO and Mary Quint of Grandview, MO. Bill will be missed by his 77 grandkids, great-grandkids and great-great grandkids
