Thomas F. Butler, 85, of Boonville, MO, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013 at University Hospital in Columbia.
Visitation for Mr. Butler will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville on Wednesday evening, Sept. 25 from 6:00 until 8:00 o'clock. The mass of Christian Burial will be held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, Sept. 25, with Father Bob Duesdieker officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, MO.
Thomas Francis Butler was born in DeKalb County, Illinois, December 24th, 1927, the son of James Butler and Margaret Egan Butler. He had served his country with the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Margene Nerge, May 7, 1949 in DeKalb County, Ill. After his service he continued his education to become a tool and die maker and was employed by Fermi 'National Accelerator' Laboratory, involving atomic research. Mr. and Mrs. Butler had moved to Boonville from the Springfield area about five years ago in order to be closer to family. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Mr. Butler enjoyed hunting and camping. He was able to fix anything, with a special interest in motors of any kind.
Mr. Butler was preceded in death by his brother, Gerald Butler and sister, Muerita Young. He is survived by his wife, Margena, of the home, his son James (Cindy) Butler of Columbia and a brother in law, Don Young of Sycamore, ILL.
Memorials are suggested to SS Peter and Paul Catholic School.
