Annette J. McGennis, 75, of Boonville, passed away Wednesday night at University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, her family was by her side as she went to sleep.

Annette Jane McGennis was born March 10, 1941 in St. Louis, the daughter of Theodore Gieseking and Esther Meyer Gieseking. She married Joseph A. McGennis on January 20, 1968 in St. Louis. They moved to Boonville in 1973. Annette worked for many of the manufacturing plants around the area including Boben and INDEECO. She was a hard working lady: and finally retired, so to say, in 2013 at the age of 72. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Boonville where she and Joe were the Sunday school teachers for the nursery and she cooked for the AWANA kids on Wednesday evenings. She loved to read, cross stitch and enjoy the beautiful flowers she grew. Her utmost love was for her family, especially her grandchildren and her doggie George.
Annette was preceded in death by her husband Joe on September 20, 2011 and three sisters; Dorothy Goss, Jannette Fry and Evelyn Gieseking. She is survived by her son, Michael McGennis and wife Faydre of Columbia, daughter, Sheri Evans and husband Tony of Nelson. She is also survived by a brother-in-law, Norman Fry of Boonville and sister, Delores Trampe of St. Louis. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Rebecca and Emily Evans and Carter McGennis.
Memorial contributions are suggested to First Baptist Church or Animal Fair (Foundation for Animals in Risk).
