Betty Elizabeth Chew, 86, passed away on New Year's day at The Bluffs Nursing Home in Columbia, MO with family by her side.
Visitation 5-7:00 PM, January 6th at Davis Funeral Chapel, Boonville, followed by Memorial Service at 7 PM.Graveside Services held at Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Mo., January 7th at 11 A.M.
Betty was born January 20, 1928 in Marshall, MO to Earvin C. & Nettie R. Ancell. She was the youngest of 6. Betty grew up in Moberly, MO where she developed a lifelong love of ice cream while working at Homeway Ice Cream which was owned by her parents. One of her favorite memories was her papa giving her big bowls of his homemade ice cream. She was a life-long lover and friend of all animals, and was lovingly referred to as "Noah" by her twin granddaughters.
Betty married Edward L. Hardister on March 5, 1954 who later preceded her in death, April 11, 2006.
Betty married Harry Chew Jr. on July 5, 1968 who preceded her in death on August 27th, 2007. She loved her life with Harry, fishing, raising cattle, buying and selling antiques, flea markets,, being outside, dancing, and playing cards with their many friends.
Betty is survived by her daughter Pat Selby (Terry) of Columbia, MO, 2 grand-daughters Ashley and Amanda Selby of Columbia, MO, and Step-children Terry, Susan, Cindy, Sherri ,and Mike, their spouses and great-grandchildren, and her faithful Jack Russell terrier, Rocky.
She was preceded in death, by all of her siblings, Jewel, Virginia, Genevieve, Mary & Chester.
Memorials are suggested to Second Chance Columbia and Boonville Humane Society.
A special thank you to the staff at the Memory Care Unit at the Bluffs Nursing Home for their amazing care and support during her stay there.
