Brookie Orlean McDowell, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 16, at San Marcos Cottage in San Marcos, Calif.
She was born on Jan. 23, 1926, in Overton, Mo., to Herman Henry Kosfeld and Altha Jane Rentschler Kosfeld.
Brookie lived all of her adult life in Boonville, Mo., up until the last two years where she lived in Texas and California with her daughter, Paula and son-in-law, Ron Starnes, and a brief time in California with her sister Carolyn Berry. She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ, Boonville, Mo., and the American Legion Auxiliary - Unit #52.
Survivors include son, Calvin and daughter-in-law, Lori of Houston, Texas, and daughter, Paula and son-in-law, Ron Starnes of Palacios, Texas; three sisters, Dottie Gerhardt and Anneta Hansett of Boonville and Carolyn Berry, Spring Valley, Calif.; several nieces and nephews. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bud", son, Paul, her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 20, at Evangelical United Church of Christ, Boonville, Mo., with the Rev. Judy Fiocco officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the United Church of Christ of Boonville, Meals-on-Wheels Boonslick Sr. Citizen Center and Missouri Hospice and Palliative Care Association, www.mohospice.org.
