Count E. Brent, 88, of Boonville passed away Tuesday morning June 21 surrounded by his family.

Visitation for Count will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at Davis Funeral Chapel with prayer service starting at 6p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24 at S.S. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Fr. Basil Eruo officiating. Burial will follow in Walnut Grove Cemetery.
Count Edward Brent was born May 25, 1928 the son of Edward Brent and Hilda Kaufman Brent. Count was a college track star when he attended Pepperdine University in California. He continued his love for sports by watching football, basketball and golf in his spare time. While he was in Los Angeles, Count managed numerous grocery stores and sold real estate. He married Patricia Schupp Gerling on May 18, 1993 in Las Vegas. Count is well known for his story telling and could go on forever telling one. Count loved his swans and the geese that would take over his lake and property on Logans Lake Road. He would visit the local grocery stores every morning picking up lettuce and bread to feed the geese and swans. He also enjoyed showing anyone that would like to come see his array of geese and swans.
Count is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and stepson Greg Gerling. He is survived by his wife, Patricia of the home; daughter, Helen Hilda Brent of Houston, Texas; stepdaughters, Sandy Sandness of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla.; Stacey Gerling of Olathe, Kan. and a granddaughter, Devin Gerling of Olathe, Kan.
