David was born July 13, 1950 in Boonville, Missouri. The son of Eldon and Elsie (Niebruegge) Lenz. He was baptized into God's family at Zion Lutheran Church and was confirmed into his faith in 1964. He graduated 8th grade from Zion Lutheran School. In 1968, he graduated from Bunceton High School. David then attended the University of Central Missouri where he graduated in 1973 with a degree in agriculture business. While in college, he was active in a Lutheran fraternity, Beta Sigma PSI, and many intramural sports.
While in college, David met Shirley Tebbenkamp. They were married August 17, 1974. They resided their whole married life in Lone Elm, Missouri, and we're blessed with three sons Jeremy, Adam, and Jon.
As a full-time dairy farmer, David worked alongside his father (until 1980), brother James (47 years), and eventually his three sons. He held much joy in teaching the next generation of farmers. His days were full of work and many outside activities. He also belonged to numerous organizations through his dairy cooperative by holding delegate positions for Mid-AM, DFA and Y.C.
Through his church he held many offices as well as youth group sponsor, LLL, and was on the initial committee for the New Zion Lutheran School activity center.
He also enjoyed the bowling league, softball, basketball, skiing, woodworking and being a 4-H leader. He had the opportunity later to coach baseball and basketball for Zion Lutheran School and Bunceton High School as well as many other teams in his 20 years of coaching. He felt blessed to touch so many young lives.
David was preceded in death by his father, Eldon Lenz. He is survived by his mother, Elsie Lenz, his wife Shirley and his three sons, Jeremy (Desiree), Adam (Tiffany), and Jon (Kerby); his grandchildren Addy (princess), Easton (buddy), and Bristol (sunshine). He is also survived by siblings Mike (Debbie) Lenz, James (Pam) Lenz, Kathy Tebbenkamp (Greg), and Dennis (Jean) Lenz; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
His outgoing personality and love for life blessed him with many friends. He could go near or far and always recognize a friend. Online condolences may be left at: www.howardfh.com
