Dian K. Pryor, 61, of Boonville, passed away at her home, surrounded by family, on Saturday morning, Feb. 25, 2012, following a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Visitation for Dian will be held at Davis Funeral Chapel in Boonville, MO on Tuesday evening, Feb. 28th, 2012 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. , with a prayer service at 6:00 o'clock . The mass of Christian Burial will be held at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Feb. 29th with Father Bob Duesdieker and Deacon Dave Miller officiating. There will be a private inurnment of the cremated remains on Thursday, at Mt. Olivet cemetery, in Raytown, MO.
Dian Marie Kenning Pryor was born June 18, 1950, in North Kansas City, the daughter of Frank B. Kenning and Marie A. Dramann. Mr. Kenning died when Dian was quite young. Marie then was married to Gerald Blocher who Dian considered her father. Dian attended the Creighton School of Pharmacy in Omaha, NE (graduated in 1973) where she met her husband to be, Robert Pryor and they were in married in Joplin, MO Aug. 18, 1973 . They are the parents of four children. The Pryors moved to Boonville in 1977 when they purchased Foster's Drug Store which was renamed, Pryor's Pharmacy. Dian was very active in the Boy and Cub Scouts of America for many years on the National, State and Local levels. They raised two Eagle Scouts, a Life Scout and an Explorer Scout. She was a Registered Pharmacist who had worked at Cooper County Memorial Hospital for many years, then at Wal-Mart, until health issues forced her retirement. Dian was an advocate for cancer research on the national level. She was a member of the SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Dian had a diversified list of interests, including; quilting, cooking, antiquing, traveling, family vacations and being a grandmother.
Dian was preceded in death by her father, Frank Kenning. She is survived by her mother, Marie and father, Gerald Blocher of Hutchinson, KS; her husband Bob of the home, her children; Blakely J. Pryor (Kelli) of Parkville, MO, Jessica D. Freels (Jamey) of Portland, OR, Bradley C. Pryor (Valerie) of Hutchinson, KS, Brent R. Pryor (Ashley) of Peculiar, MO. Her brothers, Dr. Gerald F. Kenning of Omaha, NE and Mark F. Kenning, of Hutchinson, KS also survive, as well as her grandson, Harrison B. Pryor.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request that memorials be directed to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for research.
