Edward G Johnson Jr, 88, of Hartmann Village in Boonville, MO, died Oct 18, 2010 in Boonville.
Ed had a full life. He was born and raised in Indiana and was stationed with a US Navy band in Portland, ME during WWII, where he met and married his wife Lois. After the war Ed earned his BS and MA at Ball State University in Indiana. Ed's career included being the band and orchestra teacher and counselor at Cantrick Junior High School in Monroe, Michigan. In 1967, after earning an ED.D. at the University of Toledo in Ohio, Ed joined the faculty of the University of Maine at Orono as an Associate Professor in the college of Education.
After retirement, Ed and Lois settled in Charlottesville VA for 24 years, using it as a base to travel within and outside the United States. Ed and Lois moved to Boonville in February 2010. Ed's interests included playing dominoes and cribbage, woodcarving, hiking, camping, singing, and visiting family and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, brother, one sister and infant son Philip Garfield (Peegee). Ed is survived by Lois, his wife of 65 years, children Steve Johnson (Pat) of Manitou Springs, CO, Carol Cox (Ron) of Boonville, MO, Bob Johnson (Debra) of Bonita Springs, FL, and Maggie Schalch (Dusty Curtis) of Tucson, AZ, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and sister Mildred Brause of Ohio.
